sales is tough

i'm back from four days of sales. Doing sales is tough. Stood for the whole day till my legs turned numb. Plus i had to know my products well if not i'll get shoot by customers. Sales was difficult but honestly, it's so much less boring than admin work because i'll get to meet all sorts of people including weird ones. There are also some demanding customers and i had to weave my way through or lie to them without batting an eyelid. Also, i had to learn how to introduce sales strategies to attract customers' interests.

DAy 1:
I'd lost my handphone on that day... Was feeling pretty emo about it but had to put on a smile still. That's the sad thing about being a salesperson. Even if you're feeling down, you still have to put on a brave front. One ah pek looked at a 22 inches LCD monitor and told me that next time when i get married, i should buy this and place it in my new house cause it's very clear and nice. *dots* i was still not very familiarised with the products at that point in time. Because of this, i was 'shoot' by many customers. Of course there were some customers who asked stupid questions like where the computer is made. CHINA la! Now everything is made in CHina ma... even the underwear you wear... some asked me got made in malaysia one or not... At that point in time, i felt like fainting on the spot. Have you heard of computers made in malaysia in modern times?

Day 2: I had PRC customers who came to look look see see only... asked me to translate what's wireless so i said wu xian and he went "huh? she mo wu xian?" and looked absolutely shocked. Asked me to translate what's 'tokyo drift' into chinese... like wth! i met super irritating customers who obviously don't look like they'll buy the products but still they ask a lot of questions. Of course there were customers that looked down on us temporary staff and refused to talk further with us and demand to talk to our supervisor or senior staff instead. I always feel like swatting these kind of customers away....

Day 3:
it was a saturday. There were more people compared to weekdays. Sales was brisk and we were quite understaffed. temporary staff do not know how to bring the customers to make payments so sometimes, the customers ended up stranded... i had one PRC guy who spoke in heavily accented english which was totally incomprehensible. I had a tough time understanding... PRC then PRC la... why want to act like he's singaporean. Of course there were one snobbish disgusting PRC couple who told me point blank that my chinese sucks. Inside, i was cursing them but i faked nonchalant and fabricated a lie and said that i'm mixed blood. My father's malay, mother's chinese and they stupidly believed. After that, their attitude to me was better and seemed kind of proud that i know their motherland's chinese...

In case you don't know, i don't have a very good opinion of PRC people in the first place...

Day 4: LAst day!! A funny incident occurred. One of my customers' kid pooped on the floor. Another female staff used the brochure to cover it and placed another cardboard box on it. Another senior staff whom i call uncle tommy (actually he's not very old la...but somehow it sounds nice...) didn't know. He came back from making payment with a customer, found the cardbox lying on the floor and picked it up together with the brochure. His fingers touched the poop and since he didn't know, he smelled it and exclaimed "oh shit!" super loudly. Dad and i burst out laughing. i think both of us super cruel but the three of us had made a pact not to say anything.... so... it was super disgustingly funny.

managed to sell 4 notebooks and one desktop in a day. Personally feel it's pretty impressive...

even though the four days were tough, i had my share of fun and laughter. Got to learn more about computers. Met people from all walks of life. Learnt to become a better liar. Twisted and turned my way through when i met difficulties.
