Kooky person-Gopalan Nair

Read The Straits Times today and saw the report on this guy named Gopalan Nair who was released on bail yesterday after being arrested for insulting or rather allegedly insulting the High Court judge. This is like the icing on the top of the cake. He even attacked Singapore's laws and institutions in a blog titled Singapore Dissident. The caustic remarks or incendiary claims he had made on Singapore. I find it convulsively hilarious and preposterous. However, i would like to first say that i'm not an over-zealous fanatic patriotic person. Just someone who can't stop commenting. Ya ya. I have a gargantuan mouth that can swallow the entire Mars.

(all words in italics are lifted from the Straits Times)

A month later, he called on SIngaporeans to break laws he felt were unjust, like needing a permit to protect, as they would otherwise 'die like slaves'.

Ya ya... I would rather 'die like a slave' than die in a cockroach-infested jailhouse.

When Myanmar citizens here protested against their government's crackdown on protesters last year, he urged Singaporeans to take a leaf from them.

To all my friends, maroon is like the so IN colour based from fashionistas from other part of the world. We should take a leaf by donning maroon-ee monks' outfits, shave our heads and parade down Orchard Road. Did i imagine this or did our government is actually turning green-as green as those uniforms our NS men wear.

Go read the 'In his own words', that's even funnier.

"To me Kastari is a hero. As far as i know he has not harmed anyone and could indeed be the nicest man in the world."

I'm not sure about the Mas Selamat Kastari being 'the nicest man in the world'. However, i'm with Nair in hailing Kastari as my hero. Not anyone can have his/her visage plastered at every crooks and crannies of Singapore. You know what, i think after seeing the his visage everywhere and everyday, i'm starting to gain an 'affection' for him. His beard is like oh-so sexy. My hero! *says it at screechy high pitched voice*

"singapore is uniquely suited for protests. A highly built-up place with great people density. Also it is an international city depending on tourism and international commerce. It cannot be seen as a place where thousands of peaceful protesters are shot. Singapore is not Tiananmen. "

This, i nod my head in agreement. You can take the MRT at raffles place at 8 plus. There'll be HIGH people density and you can start protesting all the way from pasir ris to boon lay. If you're feeling hot and suffocated, try gesticulate while talking. Be mindful to exaggerate your actions and you'll find the crowd dispersing. Just try not to think that they are AVOIDING you. Carry on anyway.

"blah blah... It is criminal bringing up children in singapore under this repressive dictatorial government"

"I have heard from reliable sources, that conditions in Queenstown Prison are really not bad at all. You get three meals a day, and if Indian like me, you get curry everyday"

The getting in and staying in the prison part may be easy. What about the leaving part and adapting back to the normal world? Try telling your employers that you were once jailed but now would like to work in the company. Go prison for curry?! 0.0 I thought i'm weird. There are people out there who are weirder.

"It may even be better than California for me, since i have to go out of my way to get curry here. I am getting fed up with hamburgers."

Oh ya... and you get to have curry in prison while freedom and privacy are unceremoniously snatched from you and you don't mind. What warped sense of logic is this?! Want curry, befriend a Bangla construction worker la. Go to his hostel and get it for free or at a minimal cost. But then jail is better because if you;re lucky, you'll get to befriend a forlorn lonely cockroach in your cell. Who knows. That cockroach you had befriended maybe you BFF.

And... he actually helped me confirm that...

"Within Queenstown you get to exercise and make very good friends inside"

Exercise somemore. No need to pay a hefty amount joining California fitness centre liao... Go queenstown straight.

This guy obviously hates the ubiquitious Lee family. Ok. I agree that the government's policies may not be square and fair all the time. The education system is an example of one of the policies that gets on my nerves since i'm directly implicated as i'm still a student. LKY may seemed overbearing but i still give him my utmost admiration and respect. Without him and his visions, i wouldn't be here, safe from bomb attacks and having access to internet and able to exercise my fingers away on my laptop. Singapore would most probably be a 3rd world country and everyone would most probably be begging for food now.

Hence, i find his comments too much and juvenile. I also take umbrage at some of his comments. It's like he's dropping us a subtle messsage that we're fools not to stand up to the government. Somehow, it's not that we do not dare stand up. But is there a need? To be honest, i think the government has to do what it has done for the sake of our survival. SIngapore is obviously a SMALL country. It takes a lot of attain what we are/have now. I wouldn't want to risk viewing myself as a callous and heartless person who had forgotten my roots. Blindsided by the efforts dumped in to reach the state we're now. Ignore the seemingly-unjust-but-no-choice policies morph singapore for the better.

Oh ya... I;ve read his blog. It's funny to me still.
