pre camp gathering

We had a pre-camp briefing yesterday at Vivo City. Was told to meet outside Marche. Ruiying (same group as me) and me thought that we'll be having lunch at Marche. Have lunch and talk at the same time. Who knows that we have to meet at the grand stand and there wasn't any lunch. We were super famished man.

So what did we do at the grand stand? Self intro and all the usual stuff. We had to memorise each others' names. 8 people turned up btw. Personally, i think chinese names are very difficult to memorise. And, we had ice breakers and slapped the neighbour beside you if her/his name was being called. The guys beside me never even once touched me. *Laugh* Even though my thighs were heavily padded by my jeans. And, because i'm a shu nu, i only gave a half-hearted slap on my neighbours' thighs.

And then we proceeded to make small talks. It was pretty awkward... After that we have to share with the whole group what we had known about our neighbours. 3 interesting facts. I told the guy beside me that i 'like to stone'. which he really went and tell the whole group... gosh! And when it was my turn to share things about my neighbour, i remained silent because i was recalling... My ogl said "so it's stoning time now..." something like that... i was recalling ok!

And we also did cheers which i though was ... AWKWARD. Imagine cheering at VIVO?!?! 0.0 plus i wasn't in the mood ok....

Hopefully, i won't die at the sea because there's rafting and i can't swim. Overall,i think my OG is ok. In the sense i feel at ease and stuff. Kind of lighten abit of my pre-occupations on orientation and stuff. However, i still don't like to get dirty and unglam during orientations. AND i seriously do not want to die in pool games or out at sea...

Tonight will be my first night staying at the hostel. We had a hard time cleaning the room ok. It was super duper dirty. Some places was covered in 0.3 cm of dust. yuck! My window faces a forested area. that's not the best thing. The head of my bed faces the door, the foot of my bed faces the window. Gosh! How lucky can my life be. Hopefully, the headless ghost won't come floating outside my window. Hopefully, the ghost dog won't come scratching my door in the middle of the night.

Byebye to my room

If someone shoves a mic into my face and asks me whether i'm looking to staying in a hostel, my answer is NO! My house and room is too comfortable. All the food that i like are neatly stashed in the cupboard in the kitchen. Open the freezer and the tantalising ice cream awaits me. Toilet is just right beside my room. My humble abode, is sufficiently equipped to my needs.

If another person shoves another microphone into my face and asks me whether i'm looking forward to school reopen, my answer is 'i don't know'. i think i WAS looking forward but now, i'm just not sure. The idea of slogging again and burying myself under layers and layers of notes and books makes me shiver all the way to the ends of my hair. However, another part of me likes the idea of getting integrated into uni life, do some fruitful things and stop slacking. Start moving those lazy bum of mine.

If another another person shoves another another mic into my face and askes me whether i'm excited about hall camp, my answer is 'N-O !!!!!!!!!!' (exclamation marks included) I'm just not cut out for orientations. I'm far from enamoured to be dunk into some filthy algae brimming pond or pass food mouth to mouth or go on an Amazing Race, running around like a headless chicken. Most of my friends had commented that i'd looked very 'fierce' during tj's orientations or 'sian' especially when we had to do stupid things or the mass dance. These are just my friends being polite and nice. Personally, i think i look like a grouchy, grumpy, querulous, arrogant black faced bitch during orientations. Although, i like to think that i'm nice when there's no orientations. ( don't puke.) No offense but i think i'll fare better without orientations. As in i think i'll integrate into the environment better without some morbid camp activities. No offense though. Ok. Maybe it's for offensive purpose.

I'm plagued by insecurities now...

I'm worried i can't adapt. What if i cry under my blankets every night (although i know i won't) but there's always a 'what if'. I'll miss my bed, tv, dvd player, radio blah blah blah... and most importantly, my family members. I'll miss irritating them...

Anyway, i think i just go to the camp and be myself. If i don't like then don't play. They can't force me. If they force me, i'll go Nanyang lake, scoop up plastic bag full of algae and dump at them... no joke. I'm dead serious. like dead dead serious. (must emphasise because whenever i say i'm serious, people will laugh immediately after that. )

Pesky fly

I'm pestered by a pesky annoying bugger-housefly. This bugger is irritating me all the way to the nuclei of my cells. While i'm typing this blog entry, the bugger is stationing itself at my study lamp, in blithe disregard of the bothersome buzzing sound it's making by its wings. ARGH!! Tried to slap it using NTU's freshmen booklet but missed. I hate beetles, cocokroaches, ants, termites, moths, houseflies, while anything with six legs. Oh ya! Not to mention, i hate reptiles too. The bugger is now resting on my laptop's screen . I hope it'll die of radiation. I hope my study lamp/tanning machine(to the housefly) will burn it to crisp. That bugger is bloody annoying. ARGH!!

Funny Vs Freakish Moments

One funny incident which i want to share. One fateful day, my cousins and i decided to go for a walk around our friendly neighbourhood when we saw a frenzied dog dashing out of the gates of a house and ran quickly like a chicken which is about to face the slaughterhouse. The owner shouted its name but the dog didn't even bother to give a backward glance. It just kept dashing about like a headless chicken much to our amusement. Other dogs cooped up at homes started barking at it, obviously jealous of its new found freedom. The owner still continued to scream its name "icy" but the dog was deaf or pretended to be deaf in its ears. The three of us continued with our walk, finding the dog very amusing. My personal guess is that the dog must have felt oppressed at home and went crazy when it saw the gates open wide enough for him to fit through, it immediately seize the opportunity to escape and ignore its owner's calls. A mutinous dog...

However, it soon got to our worries. It had ran a fairly great distance away from its home. The owner had managed to get the maid to chase after the dog. The maid was lagging behind, calling "Icy" in between those huffings and puffings. Beside the dog, was a long flight of stairs. We were worried the dog would run down the stairs to the busy road and it would be mission impossible for the maid to ever succeed in getting the dog back in one piece. I nudged my sis for advice on what we should do. The dog was a Golden Retriever which is a large breed. (picture below) I didn;t have the courage to catch it even though i was fully aware that Golden Retriever belongs to a gentle breed. Guess i was intimidated by its size.

Desperate to help and prevent the dog from its further escape, i called its name "Icy". Its ears perked up and it dashed towards the three of us. My feather weighted bro dodged away while i stood rooted to the ground, don't know what to do except to cover my knees with my hands while my sis clutched onto me and screamed.
The dog's big ok.
Melancholic looking baby version... Cute!

The dog just charged towards us and his head bumped into my hands which were covering my knees and i felt moisture on the backs of my hands since the dog 'kissed them'. My cousin screamed somemore because the dog swept her with its thick furry tail. Then the dog ran past us and the maid and we don't know what happened to it after that.
In my opinion, the dog's a goondo ok. Can't it even discern a stranger's voice? Just dashed madly towards us. What if we were some heinous dog kidnappers? Ok. we didn;t look like la... But the dog really gave us a shock when it came charging towards us. All that i could think of at the back of my mind was 'golden retriever is a gentle breed, golden retriever is a gentle breed, golden retriever is a gentle breed. IT DOESN"T BITE!!'
Another goondo freakish reptile-house lizard came uninvited to my house. It was humongous OK!! As long as the plastic 15 cm ruler. And not to mention freakish looking. It came through my windows and scurried to the back of my cabinet, rendering it impossible to catch or chase away. How dare that impertinent lizard came into my room!! Lizards are disgusting. I complaint to my aunty and she said that it's not her first time the lizard came into my room. She had seen it once or twice before in my room. The freakish goondo cold blooded slimy asshole is a regular visitor of my room and i had zero idea of it. All the while i was changing in my room, who knows whether the lizard was hiding behind the cupboard, staring at me and i was blissfully unaware. Ohgodwhatthehelleatshit! What if the lizard treats my room as a public toilet and start pooping everywhere in my room or pee. Do lizards pee? Anyway, i dislike the idea of having those blackish little balls of lizard's shit lurking around in my home. Imagine i try to throw my shit at the lizard's house. They'll surely die of suffocation. I hate lizards...
In another 1 week plus time, i'll be off to Pulau NTU to face perhaps more lizards. That's when i'll truly go berserk. In the meantime, i shall be a gracious host to the lone lizard and let it poo in my room. Trying to preserve my sanity... Till then...

bored

I got bored...

You Are Classical Music

You are a somewhat serious person who enjoys studying subjects deeply.

Art of all kinds interests you, and a good piece of art can really effect you emotionally.

You are inspired by human achievement, and you appreciate work that takes years to accomplish.

For you, the finer things in life are not about snobbery - they're about quality.

You Are 36% Emo

You're definitely not emo, but you do understand emo people a little. You are introspective, but not to the point of driving yourself crazy.

SEE!! I'm not an emo kid...

You Are an Emo Rocker!

Expressive and deep, lyrics are really your thing.

That doesn't mean you don't rock out...

You just rock out with meaning.

For you, rock is more about connecting than grandstanding.

And Look at what the other test says about me...

What Your Taste in Music Says About You

Your musical tastes are intense and rebellious.

You are intelligent... but in a very unconventional way.

You are curious about the world. You love doing something new.

In fact, you enjoy taking risks and doing things most people would shy away from.

You are very physical. It's likely that you're athletic, but not into team sports.

You have the soul of an artist. Beauty and harmony are important to you.

'intense and rebellious' ??

Your EQ is 147

You are remarkable when it comes to relating with others. Only the biggest losers get under your skin.

You are warm and open. Even when life gets you down, you're unafraid of the world and its challenges.

You are comfortable with who you are. And you accept your weaknesses - as well as the weaknesses of others.

While you are quite stable, you don't respond perfectly to every bad situation that comes up.

But you have enough emotional intelligence to know when you need a course correction.

I though my EQ sucks or something since i'm so cynical. Haha!!
This test may not be accurate...
That's all...

NTU snubbed me. Haha!! Ok. I'm just trying to dramatise the entire thing. My application for the camp was rejected. When i first received the sms from the person in charge, my first reaction was to whoop in joy. It shouldn't be like this right?? I should feel sad and disappointed or even vehement and call the person in charge and demand that i be squeezed into the camp. Instead, i hurried and showed Chan Mali the sms, a grin plastered on my face and i still high-fived with Jieying who was also rejected by NBS camp.

Now, i have more time to pack my barang barang for hostel. It's like moving house ok. I realise i have a humongous truckload of things to bring. No camp means i can spend more time at home and lap up every single moment of it while i still can. Haha! No camp, means i have an extra five days to watch TV/American drama serials and go around calling people 'dudes'. No camp means i don't have to be at the camp and do stupid things and risk getting ridiculed by those perverse, psychologically abnormal, idiosyncratic, mentally de-wired seniors. MUAHAHA!!

I sound so facetious saying these stuff. Some of my friends are going to the camp. Anyway, on the negative side, it means i've lost a perfect opportunity to have fun and make friends. It's not like everyday we get to do fun and silly things with a bunch of people and getting stuck in the same predicament. Think positively, it may actually be fun and i'll be missing all the fun. That's depressing...

Monday:
Went to NTU medical centre for check up. Met Lina and friend on the way. Lina's going to take the same course as me. Yay!! The four of us managed to find our way to the place. Saw two Cheena girls carrying their cups of pee out of the toilet and to the person in charge. Apparently, they didn't read instructions.

After that, i went to Jurong Point to have lunch with Mel. Had a great time chatting with her. To Mel: if you're reading this, just want to tell you let's meet for lunch cum catching-up session in NTU in future.

Tuesday:
Badminton in the morning. Met Mr Low and friends for lunch. Mr Low treated us to Fish & Co. Very generous of him. Had a great time chatting up with him. After that, we went to IKEA. My friend, yiwei, confided that she actually had a dificult time choosing between accountancy and pharmacy. She finally decided to take up pharmacy instead because she has a passion for it although accountancy may land her a fatter salary in future. She decided to take up pharmacy after reading my blog which i had written some time ago that it's better for one to stick to studying a subject that he/she has a passion in. Glad my blog provided some help for her. Honestly, it was her own efforts in deciding the path to take. I admire her courage for sticking to the 'passion' and spurned the 'money' aspect. I sincerely wish her all the best! Jiayou Yiwei!!

According to Henry Ford, "There is no man who isn't capable of doing more than he thinks he can do."

Do not underestimate your abilities. For those who have reservations about whether they can survive in unis and stuff, it's alright to feel this way. I'm included too. Fretting over whether i'll be able to survive in uni and have a smooth transition and stuff. However, stories on Helen Keller jolted me to have a more sanguine view on things.

Helen Keller lost her sense of sight and hearing when she was only a toddler. Yet, that did not stop her from being one of the successful writers ever. She managed to overcome her disablities which i find it highly worth applauding.

Another story on Franklin Roosevelt who contracted polio and lost the ability to walk normally. Despite that, that man managed to grit his teeth and overcame much adversities to become the president of United States.

Hence, i believe everyone can do well as long as we give our best. Let's not plague ourselves with self doubts and look forward to a brighter future instead. Yippee!!

TV!!!!

I'm a TV addict!! Pretty Prince Caspian...
His last outfit in the movie totally ruined his image ok!
He was dressed in a flowery grannie-ish shirt and at the same time,
a cheerleader wannabe with that awful looking skirt.
New fashion statement or sth?
Anyway, totally gross...
The chiobu in 'ghost whisperer' every friday, 10pm, on channel 5.
I watch...
She has beautiful features and gorgeous bod.
However, i think her ability to see ghosts is very much disturbing...

I have crushes on the handsome brothers.
Totally love it when the handsome duo kick the ass of some
freaking disgusting grotesque monsters/demons/ghosts etc...

Both of them are so cute ok...

Finished 'without a trace' season 1. Awesome show.
Basically, it's about this group of FBI agents who go around scouring
for 'missing' people. Realistic and captivating.
Some stories were quite touching.

CSI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Judging from the number of my exclamation marks.
It's a subtle way of showing my love for it.
I don't mind working in a lab in future.
Examining blood samples/fingerprints/bits and chunks of brain matter etc...
I think it'll be fun.

I've finished "House" seasons 1 to 4.

Greogory House as a genius diagnostician who gets to see patients with weird ailments.
He's clever but has annoying quirks, idiosyncrasies, eccentricities.
A misanthropist also. Can't deal well with people.
Sarcastic but funny.
I like his brain man...

The cast...

My idol!!
I think my brain is going to fry up. TV is supposed to have pernicious effect on people right? It's like a passive activity that doesn't require much output from the brain. Although i would like to argue that shows like 'without a trace', 'CSI', 'house' etc aren't because take for example 'CSI' keeps you sitting at the edge of the couch trying to figure out the actual killer while trying not to bite the whole of your fingers off while speculating. 'House' provides useful and insightful medical related knowledge which serves to broeaden our knowledge ok. 'supernatural' erm... handsome actors erm... visual stimulation so that we won't get lazy eyes easily... erm... stimulates the production of saliva too as we watch the handsome duo in action and drool. Saliva kills bacteria in our mouth ok... I'm trying to defend that the shows i watch do not have detrimental effects on me. SO, i shouldn't worry too much about my brain degenerating from too much TV. However, the exposure to radiation from the TV is another matter. Which means TV on the whole still harmful.
Ahem!! Where am i?? Why am i launching into a self debate of the pros and cons of TV. I'm a TV junkie and i'm proud of it.
I hope school doesn't open so early so that i can watch more TV.

Decided

Ok. I've decided to go for the SBS camp after much appreciated advice from my friends. Yay!! Even my mum encourages me to go. She said it's time for me to see the sun and not remain cooped up at home like a tiresome chicken waiting for slaughter time. Plus, it's time that i go out and make friends and stop risking being an anti-social. In conclusion, i'm going for the camp. Those going to NTU's camps, maybe can meet me. I'll be there to haunt the grounds of Pulau-NTU.

Went to Smith's Road for dinner yesterday. Smith's road is actually Chinatown la. Saw a lot of tourists sampling Singapore's cuisine/hawker fares. Chinatown is actually quite interesting at night. Plus there are a lot of sumptious foodstores lurking around the corners. I can't believe that i actually think that chinatown is interesting. *guffaws*

After walking around Chinatown, we proceeded to Geylang for durian feast! woo hoo!! We sat down and feasted on the creamy and soft durian. The succulent flesh melted instantly in my mouth and left a sweet after taste that made me crave for more. Ok! That's like too overly done. My descriptions are fit for commercial advertisements. Oh ya!! And the juicy refreshing coconut juice we had. Left me in a state of euphoria. Ok. Enough!

While we were enjoying in the durian delight, our eyes were also straying to passer-bys. Geylang is notorious for those illicit business right... Of course there were many things to see. Once in a while, we got to see gaudily dressed cheena women flirting blatantly to those ah peks. Or, sashaying hand-in-hand, their heads on the ah peks' chests, looking at bliss or done in pretence. whatever. Saw a lot of ah peks stirring their cups of coffee enthusiastically and hoping for nubile women to descend from heaven and land on their laps. My aunt even commented that Geylang has more things to look at compared to Orchard Road. Haha! A chance to know more about the illicit red light district of Singapore.

We noticed this chintzy pub/hotel across the road. A massive and rumbustious crowd of MEN, was gathering outside the entrance. Curiosity got the better of us and we stood across the road and tried to catch a glimpse and fathom what's happening. The crowd included cheena man, banglas and maybe peppered with some Singaporean ah peks strategically hidden by the others so that even if their wives employed PIs to follow them, the PIs would have a hard time capturing them on film. Thus, eliminating the risk of the PIs catching evidence of them indulging in their 'leisure' activities. After standing there for few minutes, we only caught a man leaving the pub/hotel with a "satisfied smile plastered on his face". (quoted from my aunt) I saw 2/3 long haired women coming out and throwing their hair back like the models in the Pantene advertisement.

It's quite obvious that the pub/hotel had some dubious illicit hanky pankies going on inside. Those people gathering outside were the patrons eagerly waiting for their turns. Or maybe, there were some strip teasers inside and the men were there waiting enthusiastically for the doors the swing wide open so they can catch a glimpse. These are just my theories but then in Geylang, what can one expect besides that?

My dad suggested we drive through some lorongs to 'open our eyes'. The lorongs seemed very deserted and quiet on the outside but it was a completely different matter when we drove in. There was a bustle of activities inside. Neon lighted houses, gargantuan crowds of MEN gathering outside the (i assume) brothels. The scantily dressed women with voluptuous figures stood outside and on the road, beckoning to any passer-bys as long as you have balls in your pants. A lot of cheena men mingling there which caused my aunt to ask "why are they there standing?" which i promptly replied "Free show ma! No money to get a room. Can see also not bad. Free de leh!"

I asked my dad how come there's no equivalent of geylang catered for women. Instead of women, rugged and muscled men parading on the road, selling their wares?

Should i or should i not?

SHOULD i or should i NOT go for the Biological Science Camp?

ARGH!! I'm in a dilemma.

Part of me wants to go because it's good to make some friends. Imagine entering the strange, unfamiliar grounds of Pulau NTU, friendless. That's so saddening...

Another part of me loathes participating in those brainless, stupid, silly, embarrassing games that i'm very sure we'll have to go through during the orientation. The story on the 'pass the potato chip mouth to mouth' game brings shudders all the way down from my head to my toes. I wonder how many people's saliva i'll be tasting. Gross!

My camp starts from the 14th to 18th. Five freaking days. Which means i'll have to sacrifice the precious five days out of the pathetic days left to uni intake. I'm not prepared to go to school yet...

I've suddenly realised that there ARE indeed a lot of things to prepare and bring to the hostel. Having had a room of my own for 1 year or so. I'm accustomed to it. Studying in hostel means having to share my room with my friend means that i have to part with my privacy. Let me get things right, i don't dislike my room mate or anything. She's one of my bestest friends. But, it's naturally to feel protective of one's privacy right? I mean what if i accidentally fart in the room? It used to be just me and i do not have to apologise to myself for farting. My room-mate will be there to hear and worse-still, smell my fart. Sometimes, we can't stand against nature right. Sometimes, the gas just seeps out of the hole before you can run out and release it. I can totally imagine man... It'll be totally embarrassing.

Where am i now? oh ya! The orientation camp. Should i or should i not go? AHHH!!!

NEED ADVICE URGENTLY!!

cravings...

I'm in a stupefying highly intensive sushi craving stage. SUSHIS!! Ahhh... I can totally feel the wondrous and tantalising aroma of sushis wafting into my nostrils...

Friday, June 20, 2008

I was supposed to go for the medical check up yesterday but my red monster decided to pop by for a visit and i had to postpone my checkup. I'll be going on the 7th july with mel. It's nerve-wrecking to go for the checkup alone. Plus, i'm more terrified of the fact that i'll get lost in Pulau NTU.

I did a cheapo thing... Those going to NTU should know that we have to send our passport pics online and stuff. I can't use my 3-in-1 printer because i'm currently using Window Vista and my printer is an obsolete model and doesn't have Vista configuration. (talking about this is sufficient to make my blood boil) Which means i can't use my precious printer anymore. Got to buy another one. AH! So, i couldn't scan my passport pics and upload online. I was forced to look for another alternative. Use the digital camera, self shot and upload. But, my digital camera is another outdated model which once again run into the same problem. And even if it was able to be used using window vista, i still have to charge the cam, take pic of myself, then download some software into my com and using a USB cable to link up my cam and com. Too much of a hassle and i'm too much of a lazy bum. So, the most convenient way was to self shot using my handphone which has only 2 megapixels. Which is kind of pathetic. But it's the easy way out man. Then i proceeded to use microsoft office picture manager to tweak the brightness and contrast and some other stuff to make the image clearer and me to appear fairer. Cropped it out and click! upload the pic on the website. There goes my cheapo, self shot, self edited pic.

Went to TM today. Bought a pair of shorts and top from Mango cause they were having sales. haha! I'm in a splurging mood.

Met my mum at century sqaure's sony road show. She made me lug home one big plastic bag of groceries from NTUC home. Oh god... i nearly fell backwards and rolled down the stairs while climbing the overhead bridge on my way home. Thankfully, i quickly leaned forward and got my CG stabilise. If not i'll most probably be lying on a hospital bed in the horrid sickly coloured hospital gown or in a pine box. Bless me.

Latest eye candy VS nostalgia

My Latest EYE CANDY!! With bubble gummy sweet good looks...

Hot sia...
Preppy shaggy Hair also not bad!
Jesse McCartney's 2 years older than me. Perfect age! Haha!! Armed with sugar laden, bubble gummy, wholesome gorgeous looks, he's sure to melt girls' hearts. ah!! Oh gosh... i sound like a fanatic, high pitched squealing teenage fan. Stay cool and MATURE hazel...
Was browsing through the pictures in my comp and looked what i've found...

Me in the baggy, near transparent, sweaty TJ's PE shirt... I miss my pe shirt.
Remember how we used to lie down on the running tracks for situps and when we
get up, the back of our PE shirts would turn red...
Not to mention our shoes too.
Dyed red...

We look... young...childish....young....
Time is so cruel to us...
Those pics were taken before the guitar concert i think... We had some sports thingy prior to the concert which explained why we were sloppily dressed.
Those were the days... kinda feel nostalgic about it...

Go GREEN day!
CG 26/06
I'm missing them...

Lunch!!

Had buffet lunch at Cafe Georges which is located in Le Meridien Hotel. The food was so fantastic that i was spending all of my time gorging and couldn't be bothered to brandish out my hp and take photos. I had deliberately skipped breakfast to leave more stomach capacity to relish the lunch buffet. Typical SIngaporean-ish behaviour. :) I ate 3 oysters. Even when i had squeezed lemon over the oysters, i still found the taste weird and had to swallow in one gulp so that the taste won't linger too long. I had to smear wasabi over the raw oyster. It was then i find the taste more bearable. Can't fathom how my cousin managed to wolf down 7/8/9 oysters. 0.0

Anyway, it was my aunt who had treated us. Thank her very much! The food was really nice. Plus they're having some kind of fathers' day promotion. For every 3 adults, the fourth one get to eat FOC. All fathers get to receive a gift each.

I didn't eat dinner. So you can imagine how full i was after the lunch.

Afterwhich, we took the MRT down to Suntec for the IT show. It was horrible. I'm glad i didn't take up the offer to work. It was crowded and basically you have to jostle your way to the convention centre. I hate crowds. All the pushing, swearing, and more pushing and more swearings. Situation was diabolical. Maybe i've exaggerated or something because i really do hate crowds. It was so stuffy and hot. uncomfortable and unbearable. Fullstop.

Hai~ going to uni soon. I'm so so so not looking forward to it. Am i the only one who dreads going to uni. 2 years of JC have successfully traumatised the shit out of me. 4 years of uni.... oh gosh!! I like my happy stress-free tai tai life now...

Kooky person-Gopalan Nair

Read The Straits Times today and saw the report on this guy named Gopalan Nair who was released on bail yesterday after being arrested for insulting or rather allegedly insulting the High Court judge. This is like the icing on the top of the cake. He even attacked Singapore's laws and institutions in a blog titled Singapore Dissident. The caustic remarks or incendiary claims he had made on Singapore. I find it convulsively hilarious and preposterous. However, i would like to first say that i'm not an over-zealous fanatic patriotic person. Just someone who can't stop commenting. Ya ya. I have a gargantuan mouth that can swallow the entire Mars.

(all words in italics are lifted from the Straits Times)

A month later, he called on SIngaporeans to break laws he felt were unjust, like needing a permit to protect, as they would otherwise 'die like slaves'.

Ya ya... I would rather 'die like a slave' than die in a cockroach-infested jailhouse.

When Myanmar citizens here protested against their government's crackdown on protesters last year, he urged Singaporeans to take a leaf from them.

To all my friends, maroon is like the so IN colour based from fashionistas from other part of the world. We should take a leaf by donning maroon-ee monks' outfits, shave our heads and parade down Orchard Road. Did i imagine this or did our government is actually turning green-as green as those uniforms our NS men wear.

Go read the 'In his own words', that's even funnier.

"To me Kastari is a hero. As far as i know he has not harmed anyone and could indeed be the nicest man in the world."

I'm not sure about the Mas Selamat Kastari being 'the nicest man in the world'. However, i'm with Nair in hailing Kastari as my hero. Not anyone can have his/her visage plastered at every crooks and crannies of Singapore. You know what, i think after seeing the his visage everywhere and everyday, i'm starting to gain an 'affection' for him. His beard is like oh-so sexy. My hero! *says it at screechy high pitched voice*

"singapore is uniquely suited for protests. A highly built-up place with great people density. Also it is an international city depending on tourism and international commerce. It cannot be seen as a place where thousands of peaceful protesters are shot. Singapore is not Tiananmen. "

This, i nod my head in agreement. You can take the MRT at raffles place at 8 plus. There'll be HIGH people density and you can start protesting all the way from pasir ris to boon lay. If you're feeling hot and suffocated, try gesticulate while talking. Be mindful to exaggerate your actions and you'll find the crowd dispersing. Just try not to think that they are AVOIDING you. Carry on anyway.

"blah blah... It is criminal bringing up children in singapore under this repressive dictatorial government"

"I have heard from reliable sources, that conditions in Queenstown Prison are really not bad at all. You get three meals a day, and if Indian like me, you get curry everyday"

The getting in and staying in the prison part may be easy. What about the leaving part and adapting back to the normal world? Try telling your employers that you were once jailed but now would like to work in the company. Go prison for curry?! 0.0 I thought i'm weird. There are people out there who are weirder.

"It may even be better than California for me, since i have to go out of my way to get curry here. I am getting fed up with hamburgers."

Oh ya... and you get to have curry in prison while freedom and privacy are unceremoniously snatched from you and you don't mind. What warped sense of logic is this?! Want curry, befriend a Bangla construction worker la. Go to his hostel and get it for free or at a minimal cost. But then jail is better because if you;re lucky, you'll get to befriend a forlorn lonely cockroach in your cell. Who knows. That cockroach you had befriended maybe you BFF.

And... he actually helped me confirm that...

"Within Queenstown you get to exercise and make very good friends inside"

Exercise somemore. No need to pay a hefty amount joining California fitness centre liao... Go queenstown straight.

This guy obviously hates the ubiquitious Lee family. Ok. I agree that the government's policies may not be square and fair all the time. The education system is an example of one of the policies that gets on my nerves since i'm directly implicated as i'm still a student. LKY may seemed overbearing but i still give him my utmost admiration and respect. Without him and his visions, i wouldn't be here, safe from bomb attacks and having access to internet and able to exercise my fingers away on my laptop. Singapore would most probably be a 3rd world country and everyone would most probably be begging for food now.

Hence, i find his comments too much and juvenile. I also take umbrage at some of his comments. It's like he's dropping us a subtle messsage that we're fools not to stand up to the government. Somehow, it's not that we do not dare stand up. But is there a need? To be honest, i think the government has to do what it has done for the sake of our survival. SIngapore is obviously a SMALL country. It takes a lot of attain what we are/have now. I wouldn't want to risk viewing myself as a callous and heartless person who had forgotten my roots. Blindsided by the efforts dumped in to reach the state we're now. Ignore the seemingly-unjust-but-no-choice policies morph singapore for the better.

Oh ya... I;ve read his blog. It's funny to me still.

suicide can't end all...

My mum had a friend who committed suicide by slashing his wrist. It's horrifying how he had ended his life. Personally, i don't think i have the courage to hold onto a sharp razor blade, create a horizontal line across my wrist, witnessing my blood gushes out and finally waiting for the final moment as my life slowly ebbs away. It's disconcerting and morbid. However, that guy had depression which had perhaps dulled his thinking, resulting in him taking the extreme method to end his life. It's even saddening to know that his colleagues and friends had no inkling that underneath the brave and jovial exterior, was a punctured soul, desperately in need for support. Nobody was there to help him through the darkest stage in life. Kind of reminds me the fact that we come to this earth alone and leave alone. Friends and family members can be bawling at your side while you take your last breath. But, they aren't dying and proceeding to another realm of life or whatsoever. So technically, the dying person is dying alone. Therefore i think it's important to take a notice of the people around you. Talk to them, show your love and care, show that at least something matters to them. Perhaps, lesser depressed people will choose the extreme way out.

Ok. Let's move away from such macabre topic. The spot light is on me. A lot of people had expressed shock and terror that i'm going to NTU instead of NUS. Maybe not a lot. It's a handful lot but because of their exaggerated and loud reactions that made me feel that i'd been confronted by a colony of people. Oh ya.. it's the prestige thing again. SInce they're my relatives, i had to hold my tongue and swallow all the sarcastic comments that i had, bubbling in my brain. They also prodded me for the reasons why i did not choose NUS blah blah blah... At one point of time, i was closed to losing my temper and i said something like "i think NUS sucks." I didn't want to go through the notion of explaining my reasons so many bloody times. Anyway, it was a good one as people were dumbfounded by my comment that they stopped talking and left things as they were. :) How i wish i can retort them using some stupid idiotic reasonings like "i'm going to NTU because the food there is nicer.", "i'm going to NTU because i like this particular trees there.", "i'm going to NTU because it's further away from my school and home and i won't get to see people i know easily. " Leave them comment-less.

Anyway, i'm comfortable with my decision and i'm not swayed or affected by their comments. However, that doesn't mean i'm not irritated, Simply because i don't like to repeat my reasons so many times like a play-back recorder and some even went the extra mile to say that i'm stupid for not choosing NUS.

In reality, i'm not stupid. I just have a bubble for a brain. In order to be stupid, you need to have brain which can't function efficiently, and that's what make you stupid. For me situation, i don;t have a brain, only air, so i'm NOT stupid. Whatever... I don't even understand what i'm trying to say. Bye.

Action Packed Day!!

Today's like an fast moving action packed day. Met qijiemeis at 10 am, downtown east to cycle and skate. Haven't been skating for ages. I actually found it scary to skate. Landed flat on my bum. Now my bum's hurting. Guess a big ugly bruise is going to spring up real soon. I also borrowed bike from the rest to cycle. The weather was terrific. Cloudy and perhaps drizzled abit but then we didn't have to risk being baked alive the scorching sun.

We went to E hub for bowling. While we were waiting for our turn to be called so that we can get our lane and stuff. Cherylene and Mingyan went out to see something and a random angmoh passed her free tix for the indoor ferris wheel ride. After bowling, we went to catch the ferris wheel. After that, we went to Gelare to satisfy our sweetie toothy craving-ICE CREAM!! Yummy!!

Went to my home for dinner. Had pizzas and other side orders. Don't know whether i was a good hostess. The birthday cake and song was totally unexpected. Huichan and Mingyan went to bring Sarah to my house as she was busy with something else for the whole morning and afternoon and couldn't join us. They convinced me that they knew the way and i didn;t have to tag along. Next, Sarah just popped into my house together with Mingyan holding the cake with a lighted candle and they started burstign into a bday song at the car porch. It was unexpected and sweet of them. I'm touched. Thanks people! Now i have a complete birthday.

My mum bought a cake last fri but it was too early to celebrate. She brought out the cake and the rest was like looking at it cluelessly. Didn;t know whether it's my birthday cake or not. In the end, we just cut the cake and ate without singing. Thurs, we were hungry around tea time and there was an ice cream cake which my uncle had brought home. We just cut the cake, again, no candles and song.

I know birthday song, candles and cake may be a frivolous things to some. However, to me i think those are what make birthday a true birthday.

now i feel like it's my happy birthday!

Burden off my chest

I'm 19!!!

OMG! i sound so old. This will be my last year being a teenager. Must savour and relish every moment. I'm not that enthusiastic with regards to being an adult. I think being an adult is no fun and has a lot of troubles to worry. CPF, Credit card bills, insurances, employment, tax,new house, new car, get married etc.

Anyway, i'd just accepted NTU's biological science course. It's sayonara to NUS. Guess that i'm not fated to be in NUS. However, i like to express my deepest and sincere thanks to NUS for accepting me even though they took ages to send the snail mail to me which at intially kept me clambering onto the edge of my seat as i was worried NUS had despised me and refused to admit me as their student. Anyway, i'm truely glad that NUS did send me an acceptance form in the end. Also, i'm delirious with joy that the agonising period of deciding which school to school is over. It's like a humongous and irritating burden has been lifted off my chest. Whee!! Mingyan is going to suffer being my future hostel-mate. yay!

Thanks to everyone who has sent their wishes. I really had a HAPPY birthday. I like the present from qijiemeis. Thank you very much people!! Love all my friends and family!! Wish you guys all the best too!!

gain enlightenment

Here comes the jaw-dropping announcement, I've decided to go to NTU instead. After spending like so many days pretty sure that i were to go to NUS and convincing myself that i'll survive in NUS, this is like a sudden twist of fate. Funny right? I think my wanting to go to NUS was a delusion. It was against norm and sounded funny from the start.

Anyway, i have to thank Mel for the insightful chat we had last night. I got my 'enlightenment' from there. She threw me a simple question "why i want to go to nus." I mentioned about the me being a damn slack person and need stress to move my bum along my studies. She raised her friend saying that i'm her friend's opposite. Which is weird. I'm not sure whether from this point on, you, readers, will still understand what i'm saying. Normally, people, if possible, will tend to take the easy way out. Who likes being placed in a competitive and stressful place and enjoys seeing own's blood pressure shoots up into the sky? Since my reasons for choosing NUS was against the norm, that meant that i didn't want to go to NUS but was trying to self deceit/blindfold/brow-beat/convince myself into entering NUS. It's against the norm which means i actually do not want to go to NUS but trying to self-hypnotise myself into accepting NUS.

And i;ve noticed that for the past few days, i woke up telling myself that i'm gg to NUS, i actually felt a strong sense of reluctance and dread. This morning, i woke up, thinking that i'll be going to NTU, i felt happiness bubbling inside. And i actually don't mind going compared to the sense of dread shackled to my ankles i had felt when i was 'convinced' i was going to NUS. So, my heart has finally revealed its true feelings. I'm going to NTU like a happy nut and immerse myself in the vibrant environment. yay!! *skips around*

Went to JB yesterday. Dad drove us around. We went to City square and JUsco. It was good chatting with my cousin on the way. For once, i thought we'd drifted apart but no. I'm glad she had confided in me. At least it saves me on my worries. My dad met with a couplem of friends and all of us took the beaten tracks to a ulu kelong for dinner. Fortunately, the food was nice of not my enduring of the bumpy rides was for naught. The roads was bumpy and there were a lot of sharp turns and stuff. Outside the car, you see nothing but tall grass and humongous trees. Once in a while, maybe we saw a house standing in the midst of a forested area in solitude. The place was dark and deserted and we were wondering which sane person would want to live and get surrounded by nothing but nature. What if a slithery gargantuan anaconda comes into the house in the middle of the night. What about wolves with those eeriely glowing eyes in the dark and their howls capable to raise people's hairs. yuck... The road was like winding here and there and i really admire the person who managed to seek such a place for food. Totally amazing. So once again, it proves that singaporeans love food. Also, the food was delicious and dirt cheap. Pretty cool although there were an enormous army of mosquitoes there. It was like going to night safari minus the animals. Dark, mysterious, eerie, quiet, no street lamps ok. Must switch on hazel light. But cool.

All HArry Potter's fault

I had nightmares last and last last night. I reckon it's Harry Potter's fault. Been reading Harry Potter's series. Note how the plot gets darker as the series proceeds. In Harry Potter's and the half blood prince, many characters got slain. Pretty saddening. Especially the old and fuzzy and gay Dumbledore with twinkling blue eyes. Oh ya... about the nightmares part... Must be all the atrocities the diabolically evil Death Eaters and disgutingly cunning Voldemort's had done. I was telling Huichan last night that i was afraid Voldemort would come and grope me in the night. His slanting shifty beady eyes staring at me, nostrils flaring and disgusting goo flies out, forked tongue twisting unnaturally, cold clammy hands grip me tightly... Totally nightmarish.

Anyway, after sitting on the prickly fences for so long, i've finally decided to go to NUS-FOS. It wasn't an easy decision to make. I can't seem to explain my reasons why i've decided to go there lucidly. Even though i like the environment in NTU,i like to challenge myself by going to NUS. From now on, i shall not let my choice/decison whatsoever waver. I know NUS is competitive and such, but people like me need such pushing to get going. I'm too nua.

Hai...why can't life be a tad more straightforward. It's just a wishful thinking i guess. Like what many always say, you can't always get what you want. Life is plagued with moments of all the difficult choices to make. Perhaps, that's what makes life interesting?

The marvellous richness of human experience would lose something of rewarding joy if there were no limitations to overcome. The hilltop hour would not be half so wonderful if there were no dark valleys to transverse.

Stuck in a limbo

Even after i'd went to NUS open house yesterday, i still can't make a decision. This decision i'm going to make is highly important since it more of less going to affect my future. I have make a choice between NTU and NUS. OH gosh.... it's like a horrible itch in my ass and i want to make it go away but it refuses to budge and gain autonomy from me.

Talking about the academic aspects, NUS is of course more established, therefore has a better reputation. The biological science is considered a rather newly introduced course and therefore, comes with some risks if i were to take it although i don't know what risks there may be but i'm certain it won't be life-threatening. NUS is also more competitive and therefore, i expect there'll be some throat-cut-throat competition for the top positions. Moreover, NUS generally focuses more on the theory aspects while NTU is more practical meaning more lab works.

As for the non-academic parts, NTU has a newer, cooler, classier building. The lecturers in NTU are ahem! younger. NTU has a nicer environment, more greenery, closer to nature kind of thing. Plus NTU is more vibrant and the people are helpful and friendly. NTU is getting more ubiquitous now due to aggressive advertising. NUS is like what my aunt had used to describe, "dead" which is quite true i think. I think it's because NUS is more competitive and causes the students to be scampering to be the best and such, causing them to be blinded to the emotional and humane development.

And now comes the reasoning and counter argument part... The "things" that make the situation even murkier. It also shows that two years of learning GP hadn't gone in vain. The analytical and logical reasoning plus elaboration stuff are deeply ingrained. NTU's biological science maybe a newborn shrimp in a big sea but i think it should be quite safe to take simply because it's singapore. The word is apt enough to explain everything. Our precious Ministers won't see the course in a local uni go bust. Singapore's education system is very safe and sound. So, it may worth a try going for NTU. Since our education is based on merits, maybe i'll stand a better chance in NTU?

As for the part whereby NUS is dead. I mean who cares since i can morph myself effortlessly into a dead fish anyway. In JC, when things went crazy and caffeine couldn't kick in my system anymore, i was basically dragging my bum on the floor of TJ's looking like a corpse. NUS is dead so be it. Plus, i'm a laid-back person. Without anything to push me, i'll stay motionless on one spot. Greater competition=greater stress. Stress pushes me. And blah blah.

SO, i'm now stuck in a limbo. I have no idea what to choose. i gave myself a deadline to decide by wed. When i can't, i'm going to do the stupid yet definitive way which is to draw lots. Yes. I'm going to do that.

Went to PS yesterday as our aunt wanted to give us a treat. We took the MRT there and i met a pervert. He's either malay or indian since he was dark-skinned and looked weird . I mean it in the psychotic sense. One look at him you'll know he doesn't harbour any good intentions. He board the train at Bedok and he stood eeriely close to a girl. Trying to eat tofu or something. Then he moved further into the train. He stared at me oddly and i stared back. Felt my hair standing and decided to look away. Then, he suddenly moved towards me and stood behind me. My back was facing him. I suspect it was because my side had more women. The ride became jerky and he lost his balance and crashed into me. I immediately stuck my elbow out pushing him away from me. He apologised but i glared at him before changing my position, my side profile facing him so that in case he tried something funny, i can catch it and react fast enough like give him a kick in his shin. Whenever, he tried to look at me, i glowered at him. Sent him bad vibes that would hopefully give me nightmares. He changed target again and went to stand closer to another woman in pink tank-top and pretended the jerky-losing-balance kind of movements so that he could bump into someone. There was a bloody empty hand-bars and shiny metal poles beckoning to him. It's weird why he wasn't holding them since he was so unstable. I came with the conclusion that he was a pervert. Thankfully, he didn't try anything funny cause people were noticing and i was staring.

After we had alighted, my aunt commented i looked extremely fierce. I was naturally pissed. Damn all these perverts. should have given him a hard shove.

Had Japanese food for dinner. My aunt insisted on ordering the seafood ramen even though it was meant to be shared. So, i ate the seafood ramen and now i have rashes. Once again, confirm my self-diagnosis that i'm allergic to seafood.

You know what's for dinner tonight? Chilli crabs, steamed prawns, shell fish... isn't life cruel to me?
